Reading is a major part of our lives, it starts as early as a Baby in Mamma’s belly. Kids love to have stories read to them which encourages them to want to learn to read. Children are able to learn more in the early years, usually between the age of two to five that why it is so important to start them learning at an early age.

I have always enjoyed watching my kids excitement when I am reading a story they pick out, their minds are open and they are focused on on the story without losing interest. As they listen they are learning ways to communicate, Developing good listening skills and it encourages them to learn.

 

Is Reading Important?

Reading is an essential part of life and it is very difficult to be successful in the business work without the ability to read, the younger kids are exposed to reading the greater their skills can become. There have been people who became successful without learning to read but have said that they struggled with everyday practices and had to rely on others to help them.

Struggling with vital reading skills in not a sign a low intelligence. For example, John Corcoran, who wrote The Teacher Who Couldn’t Read, is a very intelligent man. He graduated from High School and College, became a High School teacher and later became a successful businessman not knowing how to read. Many intelligent people have struggled with reading, when properly taught, most people can learn to read easily and quickly.

John explains Yes I succeeded but it took hard wok and determination to do so, but is was a major handicap that make his success less enjoyable and harder to achieve..

Why Is Reading Important?

1. Reading is fundamental to everyday life, not being able to read can be scary if you can’t read instructions an a medicine bottle. There have been accidental overdoses recorded by Health Care Professionals stating that the Patient could not read the Label.

2. Filling out a job application is nearly impossible if your unable to read the questions, if employed your required to read memos or simple emails. Having a solid reading foundation is vital in most jobs today if your ever want to land that higher paying position.

3. The mind is a great thing to waste, sound familiar? Reading helps keep your Brain active and strong. Teaching kids at an young age sets them up for success later in life. The brain like other muscles in the body need exercise to build strength, reading is working out the brain.   Reading is important because it develops the mind. The mind is a muscle, it needs exercise.

4. Books, magazines and even the Internet are great learning tools which require the ability to read and understand what is read. A person who knows how to read can educate themselves in any area of life they are interested in.

5. Develop your imagination.  Reading can take you anywhere you desire, travel the world, see new places through the eyes of the write or photographer. Yes TV and the internet can be a source of knowledge but you need WIFI or a power source to engage the mind. Books you can take anywhere, so pick a good book and start your adventure today.

6. It’s a proven fact that those who read are prone to be more creative, and logical thinkers. Kids can be so entertained by a good story that you find them asking questions, jumping ahead trying out figure out the ending. After reading a couple of chapters or pages depending on the book, stop and ask them whats happened so far. Once your finished ask them if they can think of a better ending, you’ll be surprised at how much thought they put into the answer.  That’s what a good book can do!
