Games have been around for Thousand of Years

Dice is one of the first know games which dates back to 5000 BC, Made or different materials such as rock, bone and wood have been found in different parts of the world. Amazing Isn’t it?

Can you imagine who thought of this and how considering that games have been around since the prehistoric days is mind blowing but beneficial to us all these years later. Cool Huh?

Even in ancient times games were common place in the lives of commoners and royalty alike,there are paintings dating back as far as 1550 BC depicting Pharaohs playing board games.

Lizzie Magie was one of Americas first Board Game designers, she invented a game called The Landlords Game (1904). While it is similar to Monopoly the game the Landlords Game showed how the rich got richer and poor got poorer.

Her Idea behind the game was to hopefully teach the young players that life could be unfair and taught them to be aware of unfair dealings. Today’s Monopoly was originally sold to Parker Brothers in 1935 for a whopping $500 which was a ton of doe back then.

Both games had Properties, Jails and Rail Roads and a place that pays the players $100 once they pace Go in today’s Monopoly but it was called Labor Upon Mother Earth produces Wages. big difference but same meaning today.
